St. Mary's College RFC Girls-Only Rugby Festival: Saturday 14th May 2022

We are extremely excited to host a Girls-Only Rugby Festival in St Mary’s College RFC on Saturday 14th May 2022. The Rugby Festival will be for U8s, U10s and U12s, with each team playing five, 20-minute games during the day.

31 Irish clubs will be in attendance with teams from Enniskillen in Ulster, Limerick and Cork in Munster, and Galway in Connacht, all confirmed for the event - along with the 15 Leinster Metro and 9 Leinster clubs.

We expect over 1,000 players to take part with additional coaches and parents also attending!

Many thanks to AON and Jones Engineering Group for supporting and sponsoring the Rugby Festival to be held on Saturday 14th May 2022. Without their support it would not be possible to run this event and we cannot thank them enough. This event is a huge undertaking for St. Mary’s College RFC and we greatly appreciate the support we’ve received from AON, Jones Engineering Group, and from Lan O’Connor.

THANK YOU.

We have also been granted the use of the Templeogue College pitches for the day, and combined with our own, will have sufficient pitch space while also accommodating picnic areas for a fantastic day. We have received great support from the Leinster Branch and the Senior Leinster Women’s team who will be on hand to both referee games and take photos / selfies with the players!

Building Grassroots Structures:

This Girls-Only Rugby Festival will hopefully become an annual event for Girls’ Minis and will show that with the right grassroots structures and support, that there is huge demand for Girls’ Rugby in Ireland. And it will put St. Mary’s College RFC at the heart of Irish Women’s Rugby.

This Girls-Only Rugby Festival will complement the new Girls-Only Schedule of Fixtures where 16 teams from 21 Dublin Metro clubs play every 3 weeks throughout the year. This has grown the numbers of Girl players dramatically across the Dublin Metro area.
