A Very Special Event To Celebrate 'Honorary Life Member' Frank Kennedy
Friday 11th February 2022, 7.30pm

I am exceptionally pleased to invite you all to help celebrate the conferring of 'Honorary Life Membership' on our past-president Frank Kennedy. Frank has made an invaluable contribution to St. Mary’s College Rugby Football Club spanning over five decades, and we will be hosting a celebration night in his honour. You are invited to bring friends to join this celebration and share in his stories.

Frank’s successes with and dedication to the club began when he joined in 1969 and started a winning rugby career from that first season, when on the J7 team that won the Greenlea Cup. The following season, Frank was part of the historic team, which won the inaugural Mc Corry Cup. This was the start of an impressive 28 season long rugby career. As a fine centre, Frank was part of the Leinster Senior Cup winning teams in 1973-74 and 1974-75. In addition to being part of the famous 1975 Centenary Club Championship of Ireland winning team. Frank remained part of the senior team until 1982, winning two Leinster Senior League medals, and several Blackrock Festival cup medals. This success was crowned with a place on the Leinster team in 1976.

Frank did not stop there, he continued playing junior rugby for many years with some notable success. He also ran (with others) the very popular socials in the club, oversaw the upgrading of the club house with a gym and terrace in 1993 and floodlights in 2008 along with a successful presidency in 2007-08. He was Club Chairperson in 2020-21. Frank has the bluest of blood.

We will have sandwiches and finger food available on the night and you will all be very welcome.

Looking forward to seeing you there.
